The Penguin Book

The challenge

Educational books for children need to make information clear and engaging without losing their sense of curiosity and play. The challenge for this project was to create an illustrated book about penguins, in Spanish, for children between nine and twelve years old, combining educational content with activities that encouraged them to learn and interact with the subject.

The goal was to organize a wide range of information — from penguin species and anatomy to their habitats and behavior — into a book that felt easy to navigate and visually engaging. The content needed to be informative without feeling overwhelming, while maintaining a consistent visual language throughout the publication.

The solution

“Aves del Hielo” was developed as an illustrated educational book that combines editorial design, original illustrations and playful activities to introduce children to the world of penguins. The content was organized through different page layouts, infographics and visual resources that helped simplify information and create variety throughout the book.

A limited color palette and a consistent illustration style gave the book its own visual identity. All penguin illustrations were created specifically for the project, giving each species its own character while maintaining a cohesive style. The result was a playful and approachable book that uses illustration and editorial design as tools to make learning more visual, engaging and accessible.
